I am proud to have written for the SFBG β San Franciscoβs very own Village Voice β for about 5 years. Before its sad closure, it was the most-read weekly in San Francisco and one of the biggest in the country, and I have been reading it since my first forays into the city as a 16 year-old.
I started as an intern fresh out of college and have written well over 50 pieces for the weekly, on music, film, culture, art, literature, and everything in between.

Nothing grabbed me in 2012 like Frank Ocean's major label debut, Channel Orange. I got to write about it, as well as his live debut in SF and his decision to come out late that year.

I got to chat with Hot Chip frontman/mega-DJ, Joe Goddard, about our three favorite things (see: title).

I know nothing about the economy. I know plenty about music. I wanted to see if could learn something about the former by considering the latter.

I love Pulp. I wanted to write about them. So I did. My "Britpop Faves" column was born.

I somehow talked two legends of Bay Area hip-hop into letting me come hang out with them at their practice space. There was much rejoicing.

In my first month at the Guardian, my editor asked me if I liked Weezer and wanted to interview a dude from the band. I hadn't listened to Weezer since junior high. Naturally, I told her I was a big fan.
